Finding the pearl inside was an action seance planned in St. Elisabeth church in Kassel. The audience was composed of the artists participating during Overlapping Kassel. They were not told beforehand what was expecting them. The artist Birthe Blauth transformed the inside of the catholic church into an imagined paradise with green grass on the floor and a chalice with pearls in the center of it. By organizing the seance in an already designed space, which was open free of charge to all visitors, I realized that I was being made a favor. The participants were from the beginning completely immersed in the space as we arrived during a acoustic concert.
After the music was over, we were the only ones left in the whole church. We slowly approached the center stage were the pearls were resting quietly and formed a circle with our heads pointing to the chalice. Then each one was being offered to select one Tarot Card fron my self-designed Tarot de Berlin deck composed of performative characters 31 people from 17 different countries. Starting from that I offered a personal psycho-magic interpretation to each participant. The action left us all hopefully peaceful, digesting still the personal story. Then each of us sunk the hand in the cold pearl water, selected one and left the church.
